Only VERY recently has it become LESS taboo to see depictions of the female counterpart to God. Men make up roughly half of the population, and women make up the other half. We have seen many depictions of divinity representing the male half, but a complete God includes the divine feminine. Together, we as the children of God, make up the spectrum of Godhood. 

In this painting, I wanted to show the discovery of the Feminine Divine, the Heavenly Mother. She is seperated by a thin brown veil representing our mortal understanding. She parts it, looking us in the eye. She knows us intimately and wonders if we are ready to know her. 

She is adorned with white iris flowers representing holiness and wisdom. I gave her the features I felt are the most “wise” on the female face. My hope is that one day we might know Her to the extent that she knows us.
